Northampton International Academy (NIA) has been highly commended in the prestigious national Pearson National Teaching Awards for Secondary School of the Year 2025.
This national recognition recognises schools that can demonstrate they are making a difference and transforming the life chances of local children as well as enriching the local community.
NIA was recognised due to its commitment to inclusion, including events such as Culture Day and the work of its student-led Cultural Inclusion Committee. The award submission also highlighted the school’s ongoing drive to provide all learners with educational excellence which was further enhanced with the opening of its dedicated sixth form campus NIA6 in September.
Also included was NIA’s high expectations for attendance and behaviour, including its DNA of NIA philosophy and behaviour curriculum, which was also recognised by Ofsted, stating in their recent inspection that ‘pupils proudly meet the very high expectations that the school has of their behaviour’
The school’s careers provision was also highlighted, including achieving the Gatsby Benchmarks and its annual Careers and Futures Fair. And beyond the classroom NIA’s community involvement was also noted, as well as the school’s thriving Combined Cadet Force programme.
